These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all visitors, members, parents/guardians, and participants (“you”) who attend or engage in any training, classes, events, or activities provided by Giant Jiu Jitsu (“the Academy”, “we”, “us”). By attending the academy, participating in training, or purchasing membership, you agree to these Terms.
1. Membership & Payments
1.1 Membership fees must be paid in full and on time via our designated payment portal (ClubManager/Stripe/GoCardless).
1.2 Cooling-Off Period: If you purchased your membership online, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of signing up. If you attend classes during these 14 days, we reserve the right to deduct a pro-rata amount for the sessions attended from your refund.
1.3 Notice Period: To cancel a recurring membership, you must provide 30 days' written notice prior to your next billing date.
1.4 Fees may be reviewed periodically; members will be notified at least 30 days in advance of any price changes.
1.5 Failure to pay fees may result in immediate suspension of training privileges.
2. Health, Safety & Physical Readiness
2.1 Medical Disclosure: You must disclose all relevant medical conditions/injuries prior to training. By agreeing to these terms, you confirm you are physically fit to participate in high-intensity contact sports.
2.2 Inherent Risk: You acknowledge that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a contact sport involving inherent risks, including but not limited to: strains, sprains, cuts, bruises, joint injuries, and physical impact. You voluntarily assume these risks.
2.3 Mat Safety: As we utilize a temporary roll-out mat system, you agree to inspect the training surface and notify an instructor immediately if you notice any gaps, slips, or hazards.
2.4 Hygiene: Clean Gi/No-Gi attire, trimmed nails, and high standards of personal hygiene are mandatory to prevent the spread of infections.
3. Liability & Waiver
3.1 To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, Giant Jiu Jitsu, its instructors, and the venue (Temperance Hall) are not responsible for any personal injury, loss, or damage to property.
3.2 Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our proven negligence.
3.3 We are not liable for any loss or damage to personal belongings left at the venue.
4. Children & Junior Members (Little & Junior Giants)
4.1 Parents/guardians are responsible for the behavior of their children until the class officially commences and immediately upon its conclusion.
4.2 Safeguarding: Our instructors are Enhanced DBS checked and UKBJJA Safeguarding certified. Parents must remain reachable via the phone number provided on ClubManager during class times.
4.3 Children under 16 must not be left unattended at the venue outside of their specific scheduled class times.
5. Conduct & Academy Rules
5.1 You must follow all instructions given by the coaching staff.
5.2 Aggressive, unsafe, or disrespectful behavior toward any member or instructor will not be tolerated and may result in immediate termination of membership without refund.
5.3 The Academy reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who poses a safety risk or brings the Academy into disrepute.
6. Cancellations & Force Majeure
6.1 If the Academy must cancel a class due to instructor illness or hall unavailability, we will endeavor to provide a make-up session or credit.
6.2 We are not liable for failure to provide services due to events outside our reasonable control (e.g., "Acts of God," pandemics, or venue emergencies). In such cases, we reserve the right to pause memberships rather than issue cash refunds.
7. Data Protection & Media
7.1 GDPR: We process your personal data in accordance with UK GDPR for the purposes of membership management and safety. We will never sell your data to third parties.
7.2 Photography/Video: We occasionally take photos or videos for promotional use on our website and social media.
Adults: By signing, you consent to this unless you notify us in writing otherwise.
Minors: We require an explicit "Opt-In" via your registration form before any images of children are used.
8. Governing Law
8.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
