Don’t worry, we’re pretty laid back at Giant Jiu Jitsu!
There is no strict uniform policy, no bowing rituals and no formal titles. What matters most is mutual respect, safety and creating a positive training environment for everyone.
A few basic guidelines help keep the mats enjoyable for all.
1
• Treat your training partners with care and consideration
• Leave your ego at the door and train with control
• Tap early and release immediately
• Help create an environment where everyone feels welcome
We train hard, but we look after each other.
2
• Arrive in clean training gear
• Trim fingernails and toenails regularly
• Shower as soon as possible after training
• No training with open cuts, infections or skin issues
Good hygiene keeps everyone safe and on the mats.
3
• Listen during coaching and instruction
• Ask questions at appropriate times
• Be mindful of space when rolling
• Pause your round if another group drifts too close
Safety always comes first.
4
• Higher belts are encouraged to guide and support newer students
• Newer students are encouraged to ask questions
• Everyone is responsible for maintaining a positive culture
Progress comes fastest in a room where people help each other improve.
5
Be respectful.
Be coachable.
Be a good training partner.
