PROGRAMMES

At Giant Jiu Jitsu, we believe Jiu-Jitsu should be fun, challenging and accessible to everyone, no matter your age or experience level.

Our programmes are designed to help students build confidence, develop strong values and learn effective Jiu-Jitsu in a safe, supportive environment led by Jack.

LITTLE GIANTS (6-10)

The Little Giants Programme is designed to instil confidence, resilience, discipline and respect for one another through Jiu-Jitsu.

It is taught in the Gi and uses grappling games to ensure that children are engaged and having fun whilst making maximum progress in their Jiu Jitsu. Whilst not compulsory, we offer children the opportunity to compete in competitions as we believe this not only improves this Jiu-Jitsu greatly; but also teaches them valuable life skills such as:

· Staying calm under pressure
· Being gracious in victory
· Being resilient in defeat

JUNIOR GIANTS (11-15)

The Junior Giants Programme is ultimately designed to help students transition into the adult sessions when they turn 16. This programme emphasises character development and anti-bullying techniques as well as the same values instilled in the Little Giants Programme.

These sessions are also taught in the Gi with a heavy focus on being interactive. We find that this encourages students to begin to think about the details that make Jiu-Jitsu techniques work. We aim to build a culture of discussion during the teaching-input parts of the session which stops classes feeling like a lecture and more like a collaborative project.

ADULT CLASSES.

Adult training at Giant Jiu Jitsu starts with a beginner programme (for those that have not trained before) which will teach you everything you need to know including the fundamental movements of Jiu-Jitsu which are used as the warm-up for every class.

The ultimate goal of Jiu-Jitsu is to be able to be an effective grappler and use technique and control which leads to submission. Jiu-Jitsu is unique in that it can be trained live against a fully-resisting opponent in a safe manner due to its low-impact nature as there is no striking and largely ground based.

Jiu-Jitsu is centred around live-training, commonly referred to as rolling. Rolling is where the main learning takes place by putting technique into practice under resistance. It is this part of training that makes Jiu-Jitsu truly unique and is the part of training that everyone enjoys the most by far!
